Now, why do you need to pay the companies which give you the list of programs to apply. Here I post my long-time effort in getting the selection criteria of all the Internal Medicine programs. Just click on the images to enlarge. I gathered the information by first sending bulk emails to programs; about 50% of the programs responded to my emails. For the rest of the programs I got the info by either checking their websites or calling them up. But still, there are few programs for which I could not gather much info. Leave a comment here below, if you have any additional or contradicting information. I would make the corrections asap.
I have NOT got the criteria for California programs as they are mostly not IMG-friendly
Though I have mentioned the application deadlines for programs, most of the programs shut down much earlier than that once their interview slots get filled. So apply asap.
Programs marked with "a thick dot" are H1b programs.
Programs marked with '*' are ones which offer prematch.
1 year USCE (US clinical Experience) mostly do not include observerships and externships.
Though logically incorrect, i have used 1 attempt as 1 failure. So wherever you find no attempt, it means no failure.
Some programs do not include observerships as USCE.
H1 transfer does not mean sponsoring or initiating H1 visa
Here are some of the abbreviations I have used:
ECF - ECFMG certification
ECF by int - ECFMG certified by interview
att- attempt
att(1+2) : total attempts including step 1 and 2 ck
US- US clinical experience needed
PM - prematch
y G - years from Graduation
pos- positions (only categorical.Excluding preliminary positions)
ROL - Rank order list
Res- Research
pref- preferred
occ- occasionally
couples- programs which participate in couple's Match
'?' means to be verified.
app- deadline for application
Good luck guys. I pray that each one of us match or prematch in a program of our choice. I am planning to apply to most of the H1b programs. I just counted. There are about 158 H1b programs.
P.S :
1. I am working on the list of selection criteria for Family Medicine and Psychiatry programs. But I cannot guarantee that I would post them before September 1st, 2007.

thanks very much sir...God bless u
hey can u plz sort out a list of programs that have Research and publications as one of their major criteria for IM residencies ..plzz
Hi devesh, as far as i know, very few programs have mentioned officially in their 'applicant information' that they need research and publication. those would be the leading universities like Johns hopkins, etc. Having said that, i should mention that your research publications will impress any program you might apply.

Looks like you're missed New Jersey. Can you upload that as well?
You really rock, Usmlerocker- may you get the residency of your choice!Best of luck

HI usmlerocker
three cheers to you dude.... bless you !!
Hey dude you havn't posted anything about Pediatrics..Is It Really tough to get Pediatrics in USA???
HI. Getting Pediatrics is easier than Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. As of now, I dont have any list for pediatrics. I would post it once I get it.
hi plz post the list for neurology residency?
hi usmlerocker, you have really rocked this site with this post. all the very best to u.
please can u guide me in surgery similarly.
thanks once more
HI amonymous and abhi, it involves a lot of research to find out the selection criteria of programs in a particular specialty. It can be done only in specialties where we personally have interest or if we do it for a commmercial purpose like the 'paid-service' companies. I am none of the above when it comes to neurology or surgery. Just check digitaldoc's blogs whether he has included these specialties. I apologize for not being in a position to help you guys out in this matter.
